About Me & My Style

Background: Early in life my degree in Latin American Studies led me to travel throughout South America where I developed an interest in the natural remedies of indigenous cultures while I pursued a business career.  Eventually, I turned my attention back to healing practices and now have been a licensed massage therapist for over 10 years.  My special niche connecting with older adults in the Westchester/Fairfield area grew out of the observation that as we age, we often lose access to that core connector of simple human touch.  My practice brings human touch to the elderly in the form of gentle massage.

Process: Many older people are not familiar with massage and may be apprehensive about initiating my services. Clients are often referred by their doctors, caregivers or family members and a first visit is usually a combination of assessment and ice-breaking since in many cases the client themself did not initiate my visit.  My treatment goal is always to provide respite and relief from the discomfort and stress that may come with aging or illness.  Treatment is a combination of physical touch and quiet company--the ratio of each is specific to each client's needs. Each visit begins with conversation about common concerns and challenges, families, and various other topics that build comfort and trust, followed by massage at the level the client is comfortable with. Every visit involves something to  laugh about! 

Setting: For some clients, my massage chair is a comfortable alternative to full table massage. But for many clients, their own familiar chair provides a perfectly suitable setting for massage of the feet and lower legs as well as hands, arms, shoulders, neck and head.
